Scecina Memorial Crusaders will bring back a core nucleus from the 2017 2A State Championship Team. The Crusaders will be moving up to 3A and are looking forward to the challenge. In the 2017 2A State Championship season, the Crusaders hit .410 and averaged 2.27 runs per game, as a team.
The Crusaders will look to their 3 seniors for leadership and success. Trinity Eckerty, Ball State Commit/Sr./SS, has been an All-State selection the last two years. She has also been an all-city member as well as ICC conference player. Eckerty hit .454 with 48 RBIs, 14 2B and 10 HRs. Kristina Streeval, Sr. C/3B/1B, has been an All-State selection the past two years. She is also an all-city member and ICC conference player. Streeval hit .416 with 31 RBIs and 12 2B. Emma Deery, Sr./OF, is a 4-year varsity starter, all-city member, and ICC conference player. Deery hit .455 with 20 RBIs, 6 2B and 8 3B.
Also returning for the Crusaders is, Cierra Young, Jr. C/UT. Young came in and competed during the state tournament last year when Kristina Streeval was injured.
The Crusaders will have some newcomers and players who will look to take on a larger role in the 2018 campaign. These players are: Allie Owens, Sr./OF, Nicole Troxell, Sr./ OF/2B, Jayla Shelton, Jr./2B, Kellianne Mendez, Jr. P/UT, Alex Marshall, Jr./OF, Monica Nance, Soph. 1B/3B, Eliza Leffler, Soph./OF, Emily McDonald, Fr./ P/OF.
Scecina Memorial will start their season March 19th against Milan.
