The Oak Hill Golden Eagles will be looking to build off an impressive 2017 season. Coach Ben Johnson expects the Golden Eagle hitters to be a major strength for them this season. A season ago, the team hit .326 with a .387 OBP, and averaged a little over 2 runs per game. The Golden Eagles also stole 47 bases.
Oak Hill will be returning junior shortstop Janessa Hasty, junior pitcher Bayli Toy, senior outfielder Kristin Dubois, junior outfielder Kaela Robey, and senior leadoff hitter Colleena Selleck.
In the 2017 season, shortstop Janessa Hasty hit .377 with 32 RBIs and 10 2B and 2 HRs. Kristin Dubois also had an impressive season at the plate. Dubois hit .375 with 18 RBIs and 5 2B. Kaela Robey hit .349 with 27 RBIs, 6 2B, 4 3B, and 2 HRs. Leadoff hitter Colleena Selleck hit .397 with 11 RBIs and 11 2B. In the circle, Bayli Toy had a 2.27 ERA in 138.2 innings pitched. Toy also struck out 100 and went 14-8.
Coach Johnson will ask some players to take on larger roles in the 2018 season, Ella Ridgeway, P/3B, Ashlynn Transier, 1B, Korinne Perkins, 3B, and new pitcher for the Golden Eagle pitching staff, Julliane Gosnell.
Coach Ben Johnson had this to say about the upcoming season, “I really like the team I have. We have a great group of young women that I am hoping can gel together and push one another to be the competitive team we as a staff believe we can be.”
The Oak Hill Golden Eagles will start their season March 21st against Northwestern High School.
