Monday, April 2 Wrap-Up


Lockport vs. Thornwood

The Lockport Porters met the Thornwood Thunderbirds on Monday, April 2. Lockport would get things going early, scoring 3 runs in the top of the first. Nikki Visvardis who went 2-3 with a RBI, Lauren Johnson 2-2 with 3 RBIs, Courtney Schoolcraft 2-2 with 3 RBIs and Taylor Shingler 2-2 led the Porters offense. The Porters got a standout performance from their pitcher, Mallory Hollatz. Hollatz went 3 innings striking out 7 and giving up no runs. The game would only go 3 innings as Lockport scored 17 runs on 9 hits.


Morris vs. Reed-Custer

In this closely battled game, the Morris Redskins took on the Reed-Custer Comets. Morris scored right away in the top of the first as Kennedy Dransfeldt came around to score. The Redskins would score another run in the third coming from a Rachel Trader single. Gigi Corban would go 7 innings allowing only 2 hits, 0 runs, and 16 strikeouts. The top offensive players were Ashley Phelps going 3-4 with a 2B, Rachel Trader2-3 with a RBI, and Kennedy Dransfeldt 1-3 scoring 2 Rs. Morris would win 2-0 on 8 hits.


Neuqua Valley vs. Marist

The Neuqua Valley Wildcats and the Marist Redhawks met on Monday. Marist scored one run in the first, as Lexi Voss singled to center field. Neuqua Valley would answer with two runs from a Mikaela Domico double. In the bottom of the second, Marist scored 5 runs highlighted by an Angela Zedak home run.

The game would continue to be back and forth. Neuqua Valley was down 7-4 going into the seventh inning, the Wildcats would take advantage of some errors and Zoe Herdman homered to tie the game at 7-7. In the bottom half Marist’s Jessica Balich singled and was driven in by a walk off Kelly Walinski double. The Redhawks would win 8-7.


Minooka vs. Oswego 

Monday, April 2 the Minooka Indians took on the Oswego Panthers. The Indians would score 2 runs in the second inning; Gianna Pullara started the inning with a single and would be driven in by a Stacey Tyrell double. Oswego was unable to but anything together offensively against Alex Loizon. Loizon went 7 innings allowing 3 hits and struck out 9. Minooka would add to their lead in the seventh inning scoring 2 more runs. Nicole Lovato led the inning off with a home run to right. The final score was 4-0 in favor of Minooka.


Mundelein vs. Zion-Benton 

The Mundelein Mustangs and the Zion-Benton Zee Bees battled back and forth on Monday, April 2. Mundelein would get the scoring started in the top of the first with 5 runs. The first inning was highlighted by a Molly Podraza home run, a triple from Kaitlyn Griffin, and a double by Breanna Adams. Mundelein would take an 8-0 lead into the fifth inning. Zion-Benton would look to come back, Ashley Zappa started with a double and later score on an Emma Roberts single. The Zee Bees would go on to score 4 runs in the inning but the Mustangs answered with 2 runs in the sixth inning. Zion-Benton would battle back to score 4 more runs in the bottom of the sixth but fall short of the come back losing 10-8. Danielle Lambert who went 2-4, Molly Podraza 3-3 with 4 RBIs and a HR, Kira Buckner 2-3 with a RBI, and Breanna Adams 3-4 with 2 RBIs led Mundelein. For Zion-Benton, Nadia Patterson 3-3 with 2 RBIs, Emma Roberts 2-3 with 2 RBIs, and Ashley Zappa1-1 with 2 BBs and 2 Rs led them.
